What It's All About: Better Time with God
(Monday, December 17)
Yesterday (12/16), we heard a sermon about how to have a relationship with God - a real one, that's growing and vibrant and makes our lives radically different than they are now. It involves taking 20 minutes of our day, every day, and spending it with Him in meditating on the Bible (listening) and prayer (talking). We talked about how if we all consistently did this, it would change our lives in ways we can't even imagine (you can listen or download the message here).
But there's a problem: every Christian in America (including your own pastors) has a track record of not following through on things they've learned in a sermon. And since yesterday's message was so important to the future of this church - and for making our lives worth living - we've set up this blog to help make a relationship with God a reality for all of us.
Here's how it works: once a week, I'll post five scripture references, one for every day of the week. Then, each day, I'll post the full scripture passage, and sometimes a brief devotional, list of application questions, or guide for prayer. Then, during the week, you can add your own insights, prayers, questions, or encouragements in the comments section, where we can discuss how we've listened to God in His Word and how we've responded in prayer and in our lives.
I highly encourage you to make this a regular part of your life - if you need encouragement to spend time with God consistently (and who doesn't?) this is a place you can join your family as we all make our relationship with God the most important thing in our life - and in our church!

Thanks for doing this. I know it will be helpful for me as things get crazy with another baby coming soon. This makes it intentional, but simple. I hope it will be a help to all of us.
